Clergy and Lay Leaders Support
Best Self USA is very pleased to welcome Rev. Jim Patten to our staff. Rev. Jim brings decades of experience in cognitive/behavioral therapy and will serve as a Counseling Chaplain in our ministry. In his capacity as Counseling Chaplain, Rev. Patten will be available to clergy and lay leaders both locally and nationwide. Many times Christian leaders are reluctant to talk about their stressful situations and confidentiality is of utmost concern. Being sensitive to that concern, Rev. Jim Patten has made his own office available at a separate location from the Best Self USA Clinic and also offers counseling to Christian leaders in the privacy of their own homes or offices. In addition, Rev. Jim can set up a private web conference link to conduct a counseling session via the internet and will be able to offer the materials and techniques developed from decades of long distance counseling done at Best Self USA.
Private Executive Coaching
In the 1970s Sam Sewell served as a professor of Marketing and Management Science for Sterling College, a Christian liberal arts college where he created the Marketing and Management Science Curriculum to be delivered to veterans who were now in business and still had G.I. education benefits they hadn’t used. Rev. Sam guided the curriculum through the accreditation process. Rev. Sam has maintained his interest in executive functions and their interface with the behavioral sciences.

Child and Teen Counseling
Rev. Sam Sewell is a Gifted Child Coordinator for MENSA, the high I.Q. society. Revs Sam and Bunny Sewell work together in their sessions. This provides minors with the “mother/father” dynamic to the counseling experience. The Sewells have decades of experience in establishing meaningful therapeutic relationships with children and teens.

The Sewells also offer a Pre-College Life Skills Program for college bound young people so they can learn the skills for living a successful life that are not taught in high school.
Nutritional Guidance

Marriage & Family Counseling
A husband and wife therapy team brings both the male and female perspective to working on areas such as pre-marital counseling, helping troubled couples, effective parenting skills, caring for the elderly, and grief related events for the entire family.
